Alwinton Show 2013

The Alwinton Border Shepherds' Show is the last in the season and always a good send off into Autumn. It was a bit of a dull and drizzly day, but far better than the previous year, which had to be cancelled due to flooding.

Arriving early to avoid the traffic, it can get very busy, I was on a bit of a mission. After deciding to apply for a stand at Harbottle, would Alwinton be next?

With plenty of time to decide, I settled in to enjoy the dog show. There's always a good turnout for this and I had more than a few favourites at this one.

An announcement informed of the imminent arrival of the Rothbury Highland Pipers and it was off to the main ring. They always start the day well and I was after a few photos. I became engrossed in the comings and goings before the display and I took a series of shots. The more informal portrait was becoming an interest and one that I would persue.

The rain gathered momentum during the Sheep Show and it became evident that it was time to leave. It would be the last time I would wander through the show taking photos. I was sucessful in obtaining a stand the following year and thereafter. I have such a great time here that it's hard to get out of the craft tent!
